Viola flower syrup
Facts about the flower: Viola tricolor is a traditional medicinal plant. It has been used for centuries in Europe for the treatment of inflammatory lung diseases, and inflammatory skin disorders such as eczema, psoriasis…
I am planning to use the flower syrup in teas, desserts, and to use it as an alternative to cough syrup!
To make the flower syrup:
Fill a clean glass container (sterilized with hot water) with viola flowers (de-stemmed)
Add (boiled) hot water
Cover with a lid
Let it sit at room temperature for a day
Put it in the fridge for two more days
Strain the beautiful clear blue liquid through a finely meshed sieve
Transfer the liquid - the flower essence into a clean glass jar (sterilized with hot water)
Add the same amount of honey ( I use honey for its antibacterial properties)
Stir well until its mixed
Store it in the refrigerator
Enjoy the beautiful color from our mother earth :)
