The magical green latte
Dear eggplant readers, how about starting the day with a cup of matcha latte?
What you will need:
1/2 tsp high-quality matcha (check the color, see if its bright emerald green, this is the easiest way to check), in this video I used my favorite Three tea bowls matcha.
A chawan - tea bowl
A chasen - bamboo whisk
A chashaku (bamboo scoop), this is optional
A sieve
An electric milk frother
Filtered /spring water at 80°C (176°F)
Milk of your choice
*Of course, if you don't have a chawan, chasen and chashaku, you can sift matcha powder into a cup, add hot water and your choice of milk (sweetener optional ), and whisk it with an electric frother. :)
Vegan Matcha Latte Recipe
Serving: 1
Ingredients:
2.0 Japanese bamboo matcha scoop (chashaku) matcha powder (about 1/2 tsp)
1/8 cup of (80 C /176°F) hot spring water/ filtered water
1/2 cup milk of your choice
sweetener (optional)
Instructions:
Warm the milk of your choice to about 80C (176°F)
Sift matcha powder into a chawan
Add (80 C) (176°F) hot water to the chawan, whisk briskly in a "zig-zag" pattern (with a chasen - bamboo whisk) until matcha froths to a foam.
Pour matcha into a cup
Froth the milk of your choice using an electric milk frother
Add hot milk (+ sweetener, optional) to the prepared matcha
Homemade almond milk:
Ingredients:
1 cup raw almonds, soaked and drained
3.5 cups of filtered water
1 tsp vanilla powder
sweetener (optional) - 4 dates or 2 tbs of honey/maple syrup
Instructions:
Soak almonds overnight in filtered water (in ratio 1:2; 1 cup of almonds: 2 cups of filtered water; add a pinch of Himalayan salt)
Drain the almonds from the soaking water, rinse them thoroughly to get rid of the phytic acid and enzyme inhibitors.
Put everything into a blender, blend until smooth
Strain through a nut milk bag, squeeze and press to extract all the milk
