Antioxidant-rich smoothie bowl
Antioxidants are substances that help to repair and to prevent cell damage. They protect us against radiation and many other diseases. (Herbal Academy, 2020)
Flavonoids are plant pigments that exert antioxidant activities. They are responsible for the blue or purple colors of the berries and many flowers. They can increase vitamin C levels within our cells, protect us against free radical damage. Flavonoids also have a very beneficial effect on collagen. These phytochemicals can be found in abundance in dark berries. (Murray, M. 2005)
Smoothie is a great way to incorporate flavonoid-rich berries into our diets daily.
